]]>According to Global News, Police said they were called to a home in the 700 block of McGee Street around 9 p.m. Sunday, after being told a break-and-enter was in progress while a 17-year-old boy was home alone with his grandmother.
When police arrived minutes later, they found a man attacking 17-year-old Jaime Adao with a weapon. In order to stop the attack, police had to shoot the man.
The attacker and the victim were both taken to hospital in critical condition, where Jaime died of his injuries.
Prominent Family
Jaime Adao is the son of Jim Adao, who owns Jimel’s Bakery on Bannatyne Avenue along with his wife Mel.
The bakery will be closed for a week because of this crime that claims the life of their son.
Winnipeg School Division spokesperson Radean Carter confirmed Jaime was a student at Tec Voc High School, starting in Grade 9 and was slated to graduate this year.
“He’s touched many, many lives at Tec Voc,” she said.
“You have to understand that Jaime being at that school for four years, Jaime had 30 different teachers at that school, so staff are really devastated.”
“We found out a little bit earlier this morning … so our clinical support services is there at the school and they’ll be there today and tomorrow and really, as long as they’re needed.”
Carter said Jaime was a well-known, liked and popular student.
